Film Characters

Characters only appear in Wizards of Waverly Place: The Movie.

  • Archie (Steve Valentine) – Archie is a skilled, but unlucky and sardonic illusionist and con artist, and serves as the comical foil and anti-hero of the movie. He was a wizard until his brother defeated him in a wizard contest. He and Giselle constantly get in trouble with local authorities and try to convince the Russos in the search for "The Stone of Dreams", but fail due to Jerry and Theresa's distrust of them. However, after a time paradox caused by Alex that could destroy the entire family, she and Justin have no choice other than to find the object. During the movie, Archie serves as an assistant of Giselle, helping her due both to his crush on her and his own personal desire to get the Stone. Archie is shown to feel remorseful, however, when he secures the Stone from Giselle and gives it to Theresa – after having used his wish to undo Giselle's. Despite his antagonistic nature for half of the course of the movie, he has shown a much kind and caring side, as he worried about Alex and Justin could possibly fall down and how he gave back the stone of dreams back to Thersea.
  • Giselle (Jennifer Alden) – Giselle is a female wizard and is the main antagonist of the movie. She was turned into a parrot for some unknown reason and is the driving force for the search of The Stone of Dreams through the manipulation of Archie and the Russos. When the Russos have secured the Stone, Giselle steals it in order to return to her human form. Throughout the movie, Archie is not aware of her cruelty, despite all her physical and emotional abuse, until she informs him that she is only using him. Unfortunately for her, Archie turns the tables by stealing the Stone from her and wishing her into a parrot again. It remains a mystery why she was originally turned into a parrot but it is suggested that this was a punishment for abusing her magic. Giselle is highly selfish, only caring for her own well being, not concerned with other people's problems.
  • Javier (Xavier Torres) – seen in Wizards of Waverly Place: The Movie. He was a host at the hotel the Russos were staying at in the Caribbean. Alex had a small crush on him, but soon turned him down once she realized how she would rather spend time with her family, and how little he really cares for her.

Famous quotes containing the words film and/or characters:

You should look straight at a film; that’s the only way to see one. Film is not the art of scholars but of illiterates.
    Werner Herzog (b. 1942)

It is open to question whether the highly individualized characters we find in Shakespeare are perhaps not detrimental to the dramatic effect. The human being disappears to the same degree as the individual emerges.
    Franz Grillparzer (1791–1872)
