  • March 26 – 17 Hull F.C. fans were arrested after they invaded the pitch and tore down the posts after Hull were knocked out of the 2000 Challenge Cup. In spite of the fact that the match was held on a neutral ground, Hull were fined ₤25,000 by the Rugby Football League for having inadequate security, and an additional ₤10,000 two days later after a club official described the League's decision as "absolutely disgraceful" and threatened to withdraw Hull from the 2001 Challenge Cup.
  • April 7 – During a Chile–Argentina Davis Cup rubber held in what later became the Movistar Arena, the Chilean crowd pelted the Argentine team with fruit, coins, and plastic chairs on numerous occasions. The Chilean Tennis Federation were fined US$50,000 for the incident and having inadequate security, and the lost the home court rights for two years.
  • May 16 – During a game between the Chicago Cubs and the Los Angeles Dodgers at Wrigley Field in Chicago, a drunk Cubs fan grabbed the cap off the head of the Dodgers' Chad Kreuter, starting a bench-clearing brawl in which Dodgers players entered the stands to fight with Cubs fans. Sixteen players and three coaches were ejected and suspended for a total of 76 games.
