  • April 14 – During an NHL game between the Buffalo Sabres and the Québec Nordiques at Le Colisée, a drunk Nordiques fan jumped onto the ice and charged at the Sabres bench. Rob Ray and Colin Patterson KOed the fan and police quickly arrested him.
  • November 16 – During a FA Cup first round replay between Peterborough United and Kingstonian, a Peterborough fan threw a missile which knocked Kingstonian's goalkeeper unconscious and left him having to be carried off the pitch on a stretcher. With no substitute goalkeeper available, Peterbrough was able to win easily, with a final score of 9–1; however, the Football Association declared the match null and void, and ordered a rematch with no fans present. Peterbrough won the replay 1–0 on November 21.
