  • May 28 – During the last quarter of a VFL match at Princes Park between Carlton and South Melbourne, Carlton's George Topping knocked-out South Melbourne's Bert Streckfuss behind the play, causing fans to jump the fence and participate in a wild all-in brawl with players and team officials. Topping had to be escorted from the ground under police protection; he was later suspended for the remainder of the season and all of 1911 (35 matches) for starting the brawl, while South Melbourne's Dick Casey was suspended for the remainder of the season (16 matches) for running into the brawl and striking Topping in retaliation.
  • May 28 – At the end of a VFL match between Richmond and Fitzroy at Punt Road Oval, Fitzroy ruckman William Walker was abused and pelted with various objects by Richmond fans, and had to be escorted from the ground under police protection.
  • May 28 – At the end of a VFL match between St. Kilda and Melbourne at the Junction Oval, which Melbourne won by three points after a late St. Kilda goal was ruled to have been touched, St. Kilda fans invaded the field and jostled the field umpire, who was escorted from the ground by St. Kilda officials.
