List of Towns in Virginia

List Of Towns In Virginia

This is a complete list of towns in the Commonwealth of Virginia in the United States. An incorporated town in Virginia is the equivalent of a city in most other states, e.g. a municipality which is part of a county. Incorporated cities in Virginia are independent jurisdictions and separate from any county they are near or even within.

As of 2005, there are 190 incorporated towns, some of which are as large as independent cities, but are not incorporated as cities and are therefore situated within a parent county or counties. For a complete list of independent cities, see List of cities in Virginia. For major unincorporated population centers, see List of unincorporated towns in Virginia.

This list is complete, do not add or remove any municipalities from this list unless that place has legally changed its incorporation.

Famous quotes containing the words list of, list and/or towns:

Do your children view themselves as successes or failures? Are they being encouraged to be inquisitive or passive? Are they afraid to challenge authority and to question assumptions? Do they feel comfortable adapting to change? Are they easily discouraged if they cannot arrive at a solution to a problem? The answers to those questions will give you a better appraisal of their education than any list of courses, grades, or test scores.
    Lawrence Kutner (20th century)

We saw the machinery where murderers are now executed. Seven have been executed. The plan is better than the old one. It is quietly done. Only a few, at the most about thirty or forty, can witness [an execution]. It excites nobody outside of the list permitted to attend. I think the time for capital punishment has passed. I would abolish it. But while it lasts this is the best mode.
    Rutherford Birchard Hayes (1822–1893)

Glorious, stirring sight! The poetry of motion! The real way to travel! The only way to travel! Here today—in next week tomorrow! Villages skipped, towns and cities jumped—always somebody else’s horizons! O bliss! O poop- poop! O my! O my!
    Kenneth Grahame (1859–1932)
