Carol's Children
Carol has three children, 1 conceived by her ex-husband, Derek, and 2 accidentally conceived by Gordon. One is called "Ben", who is the eldest, and is seen and mentioned more. The twins are originally "Tom" and "Emily", but then their names are changed to "Jack" and "Jessica".
When they are older, Tom/Jack and Emily/Jessica study at Cambridge, with Laura's son Barney, and Ben joins the Navy, making submarines.

Famous quotes containing the words carol and/or children:
“Herod, the king,
In his raging,
Charged he hath, this day,
His men of might
In his owne sight
All yonge children to slay.”
—Unknown. Coventry Carol (l. 10–15)
“... married women work and neglect their children because the duties of the homemaker become so depreciated that women feel compelled to take a job in order to hold the respect of the community. It is one thing if women work, as many of them must, to help support the family. It is quite another thing—it is destructive of woman’s freedom—if society forces her out of the home and into the labor market in order that she may respect herself and gain the respect of others.”
—Agnes E. Meyer (1887–1970)
