List of Secondary State Highways in Virginia - SR 628 (Suffolk)

SR 628 (Suffolk)

State Route 628 was a secondary state highway in the independent city of Suffolk, Virginia, United States. The 5.26-mile (8.47 km) highway was transferred to the city on July 1, 2006, and is now simply known as Crittenden Road. It runs along the neck of land between the Nansemond River and Chuckatuck Creek, connecting State Route 125 near Chuckatuck with U.S. Route 17 near Crittenden. A 1.40-mile (2.25 km) piece of road, from State Route 10 at Chuckatuck towards Crittenden, was added to the state highway system in 1931 as State Route 541. A further 2.10 miles (3.38 km) were added in 1932, and in the 1933 renumbering it became State Route 192. 0.83 miles (1.34 km) more were added later that year, but the rest of the road to U.S. Route 17 was not added to the primary system, instead becoming secondary State Route 628. SR 192 was transferred to the secondary system (as an extension of SR 628) in 1947; a short piece at Chuckatuck became part of State Route 125 in 1963.
