  • "Iarna nu-i ca vara" (Winter's not like summer.) Traian Băsescu's reply, as Minister of Transport, when asked about what measures he took after countless streets and villages were blocked by the heavy snow.
  • "Iar pe cei care s-au apucat să-mi numere găinile, îi rog să-mi numere şi ouăle" (I invite those who started to count my hens, to count also my eggs/balls.) Adrian Năstase's reply, as Prime Minister, after press inquiries regarding his chicken farm, part of a larger set of corruption accusations. He implied the secondary meaning of balls, for ouă (eggs) in Romanian.
  • "Să trăiţi bine" (May you live well.) the political catchphrase of president Traian Băsescu.
  • "Succesuri" (Wrong plural form for success) spoken by Elena Basescu. It became an internet meme in Romania similar to the overextended use of the internets.
