Jerry Nelson, age 56, of Asheville, NC walked from New Mexico to Washington DC in 2006-2007. Nelson served in the US Navy and the walk drew attention of many veterans and veteran supporters. Nelson, a freelance photojournalist, has contributed many stories and photos to numerous news organizations, newspapers and magazines throughout the country.
