Note:
- (a) The Convention Parliament of 1689 was not summoned by King James II, who was outside the country, but by the future William III, and it decided that James had abdicated by fleeing the capital on 18 December 1688 and by throwing the Great Seal of the Realm into the River Thames. It also offered the throne jointly to William III and Mary II, who accepted it.
