The Abominable Snowman (Carl Hanson) is a character in the Marvel Comics universe.
Created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby, the character first appeared was in Tales to Astonish #13 (November 1960). He later appeared in Nick Fury's Howling Commandos #2 (January 2006).
While in Calcutta, Carl Hanson overhears a man talking about a photograph he has of the Abominable Snowman. Hanson steals the photograph from the man and sets off to the Himalayas. He can't get any help as the people knowing believe the photograph is cursed and advise Carl to dispose of it before the curse overtakes him. Hanson sets off to find the creature himself, but as he continued to climb, his hair grew longer and longer until he resembled the Abominable Snowman. With his mind addled, he drops the photograph which is now a reasonable resemblance of what he has become.
The Abominable Snowman later reappears as a member of S.H.I.E.L.D., working in the S.H.I.E.L.D. Paranormal Containment Unit.
