The Sutton family leaves Lincoln Heights to live with Jenn's father. While Cassie and Charles are driving, two racist teens smash into Charles's car on purpose. Then one of them makes a racist comments to Cassie and Charles begins fighting with one of the guys, Cassie persuades him to stop. The police then come and then release him. Eddie informs Cassie that the police wants to question her and Charles about Mac's death. Charles and Cassie lie. Eddie finds a little girl in a crack house by herself. Cassie tries to convince Charles to tell the police what really happened. Charles has Cassie choose between him or her dad. Cassie refuse to pick sides. Charles walks away angrily. Later Cassie and Charles makes up. At a celebration party at the Sutton's house the police tell Eddie that Mac's death was no accident and Cassie and Charles were the last two to see him alive. They have to bring them downtown. Jenn and Eddie looks scared when Cassie and Charles are unaware that the police are right behind them.

The police continue to question Charles and Cassie after finding out that Mac was impaled by his own knife. Cops think Charles killed him. They even put out a warrant for the two. Charles plans on running from the law. But Charles returns. The Mac thing is over. Tay and Nate go at it. Lizzie tries to fit in at her new high school. She is befriended by the popular girls after they see her talking to Sage, the junior prom queen. As part of a "prank" that the girls pull, Lizzie sends a text message that ruins another girls life. Lizzie and the other girl eventually become friends after Lizzie stopped hanging out with the mean girl crowd. Before the police searches Charles's apartment, Charles hides the money at Sage's place. Later Charles shows Sage the money which is $100,000.
Aftershock NA NA September 28, 2009 36 (4-3)
In this episode, Bishop returns after escaping from prison during the earthquake for revenge once again to go after Eddie's family. Sage wants a loan from Charles for keeping his secret and holding his money when the cops had a warrant. The whole Lincoln Height's FEMA check is stolen. Tay is beaten up by a stranger on the street after bumping into him. Nate and Tay work on finding the attacker. Jenn and the neighborhood watch beat up the guy who knows about the guy who stole their FEMA check. Charles' mother comes back and decides Charles and her should move to Maui, Hawaii. Later Charles finds his mom drunk at home with the money. She said she found it while having sex with a random guy. Charles snatches the money out of his mother's hands and tells her to tell the guy to take a hike. Charles spends the night at Sage's house. Charles gives the money back to the Suttons anonymously. Nate Ray thinks about going back to the army.

In this episode Charles and Cassie meets with Charles's real father. Cassie disobeys her parents to go with Charles. The Sutton family talks about the money. Tay buys a pool table with his friend's credit card. Eddie finds out that Charles took the money and returned it. Charles decides to stay with his father for a little longer. Lizzie joins a new group to help young kids. In the end after Lizzie befriends a little boy Gabriel, another bully rips Gabriel's teddy bear. Lizzie let's Gabriel borrow Lizzie's stuffed animal and Lizzie will sow it up. A thug attacks Lizzie and rips the remains of the bear and finds heroin in the bear. A robber who has been stealing from the more fortunate (but still not rich) and giving to the less fortunate, saves Lizzie.

In this episode, Eddie ignored Cassie because of what she did last episode. Lizzie wants to help Gabriel. The group instructor, Marco, is the robber. Tay and his friend wants to catch the bandit for a $500 reward. Charles's father doesn't care for Charles. Cassie and Eddie goes to comfort him. Charles tells Eddie about the money. Eddie says he already knows. Charles tells Cassie. She's upset, but then after some talk from Eddie, she forgives Charles.

In this episode, Nate sends a letter to each member of the Suttons family that comforts each one in a special way. Charles and Cassie argue about Charles hiding the money from the police and Charles telling Sage about it before Cassie. Cassie forgives Sage and Sage has a new boyfriend name Ted. Sage, Ted, Ted's friend, and Cassie go to a club to hang out. While there, they bump into Charles. Lizzie has dreams about Johnny Nightingale her ex-boy friend who died in a car accident. Lizzie and Andrew's relationship grows stronger, but Lizzie is having difficulty trying to deal with Johnny being gone. Jeron starts to get into some trouble but Eddie makes him start coming over for dinner and Tay starts hanging with him. Jen doesn't like the idea and gets in to it with Dana. Nate Ray's unit is attacked and Jen's finally accepts Dana and Jeron as they all come together to find out if Nate is alright or not.

In this episode, Cassie is busy applying to colleges, and Charles has to retake the SATs to get into college but an unexpected visit from his brother Travis gets him into trouble and almost killed. Eddie hopes to bond with Tay by putting together a home theater system but Tay ditches him to enter a singing contest to sing on stage with Trey Songz. Also, Eddie's father Spencer makes a special appearance to the Sutton household stating that he is sober after attending rehab. And Jenn gets sick with a mysterious illness and gets taken to the hospital in an ambulance.
Bully For You NA NA November 2, 2009 41 (4-8)
Cassie receives a plane ticket to New York City for her 18th birthday from her Aunt Naomi. At first Cassie hesitates because she still has school, Charles, and her mom to worry about. However, she decides to go after Charles and Jenn advise her to go. Aunt Noami introduces her to Julian, an artist who attends Pratt Institute, an art school in New York. The two spend the night together talking. She becomes torn between going to Pratt in New York and going to school in California with Charles. Meanwhile, Malik gets a knife for protection after being bullied at school. Tay takes it from him and gives it to Eddie. Malik is mad at Tay and tells him that they are no longer friends. The next day at school Tay identifies the three suspects and Eddie warns them if he finds out they been attacking kids, they face juvie. The suspects attack Tay in retaliation. They blindfold him, duct tape him to a chair, and leave him in a dark room for the night. Eddie puts together a Stop the Violence program at the school (kind of like the D.A.R.E. program) Eddie finds Tay, and arrests the 2 bullies and charges them with assault and kidnapping. The third wasn't there when Tay was tied up, so he's free to go. Malik forgives Tay and they are friends again. Also, Lizzie auditions for the Fall musical Antonio and Julie: A Tale of Love based on Romeo & Juliet after Andrew’s suggestion. Lizzie’s former friend and now rival, is auditioning for the same part as Julie the lead role. She has been the lead for the past 2 years. She tries to sabotage Lizzie’s audition but Lizzie gets the part anyway. Andrew gets the part of Antonio. Jenn is still in the hospital. After her room-mate Rudy dies she begins to cry and worry that she might die too as she and Rudy had some of the same symptoms.
The Gathering Storm NA NA November 9, 2009 42 (4-9)
In this episode, Charles and Cassie argues over seeing a video that Julian from last episode, post. Which looks like her being a stripper. Charles and Cassie decides to take a break from each other. Cyd Glass, the women who broke inside the Suttons' house in season 3 opener, calls Eddie asking him if he would allow her parole. She sounds like a nicer person and Eddie agrees, she with the Suttons for a couple of days. Nate Ray comes home from Afghanistan and he starts to lose it, thinking about the army. Eddie and Cyd works to find out who the money that Charles found belongs to. Jenn is curious about the deadly virus that's spreading across Lincoln Heights. I. The end, Cyd leaves the Sutton's house, violating her parole.

In what turned out to be the series finale, Charles decided to join to army so he can pay for college, Cassie wants to go to Pratt College in New York, but she wants to stay with Charles, so she decides they should get married. Jenn and Tay figure out where the virus came from... The garden that they went to in the Season 4 opener. Andrew must deal with racial comments from the bully two episodes ago, when he sees Andrew kissing a black girl (Lizzie) which starts a riot from the season 2 opener. This causes Andrew and the bully into a fist fight. To make sure a racial riot don't happen like 2 seasons ago, the principle cancels the play. Lizzie finds a way to resume the play, stop the racial riots, and to teach the bullies a lesson. Nate goes to the hospital to deal with Afghanistan. Tay makes a song for Nate and all the brave soldiers who fought for their country. Jenn and Nate hears it and convince Tay to sing in public. Tay sings in public which gets up a record deal. Eddie solves the murder of Cyd Glass's great aunt who died at the age of 12, burn to death. A cop in Eddie's department is the one responsible for the girl's death. He was a teen doing a prank, burning the cross. After the death, he offered the Glass family $100,000 to stay quiet. Cyd's grandfather, hid the money in the crack house, where Charles found the money. He is arrested for murder/arson/bribery. Charles's mother talks with Charles's father, who offers Charles a way out of the army and into a great college. Charles and his dad go on a great start.
