List of Itchy & Scratchy Cartoons - Burning Down The Mouse

Burning Down The Mouse

Title Pun: Burning Down the House
Simpsons Episode: "Homer Goes to College"

Year: 1993

Synopsis: The first (and so far only) episode where Scratchy gets his revenge at Itchy. Itchy is tied to a pole and Scratchy puts unusually large explosives around Itchy, including two nuclear bombs (before the cartoon starts, Lisa excitedly says that it's "the one where Scratchy finally kills Itchy"). Just as Scratchy finally lights up all explosives, he calls for a taxi and drives away to avoid being killed by the explosion. Just as the mega-explosion about to blast Itchy, the Simpsons' TV is unplugged. The cartoon is over when it comes back on with the framgrab of an explosion featuring "The End", which might imply that Itchy died in it, thus Scratchy finally got his revenge, or maybe Itchy must've swapped places with Scratchy, thus being continuous on Itchy's plans to kill Scratchy. Following the end of the cartoon, the children cheer and Krusty then says that there's no way the studio will ever allow to show that again in a million years; Bart and Lisa are highly furious.

Famous quotes containing the words burning and/or mouse:

A certain minor light may still
    Leap incandescent

Out of kitchen table or chair
As if a celestial burning took
Possession of the most obtuse objects now and then—
    Sylvia Plath (1932–1963)

It is as when a migrating army of mice girdles a forest of pines. The chopper fells trees from the same motive that the mouse gnaws them,—to get his living. You tell me that he has a more interesting family than the mouse. That is as it happens.
    Henry David Thoreau (1817–1862)
