List Of Formula One Grands Prix
The following is a complete list of Grands Prix which have been a part of the FIA World Championship since its inception in 1950.
Up to the end of the 2012 season, 878 World Championship Grands Prix have been held, including the Indianapolis 500 races which were a part of the World Championships from 1950 until 1960.
Major auto racing events are usually named Grands Prix (plural form of Grand Prix), a tradition dating back to the first decade of the 20th Century and the Grand Prix motor racing of the 1920s and 1930s. Formally, for a race to be called a Grand Prix, it should have a race distance of at least 300 km. This rule can be said for every Grand Prix which was ever on the Formula 1 calendar with the exception of the Monaco Grand Prix – which has a race of less than 300 km since 1968.

Famous quotes containing the words list of, list and/or formula:
“Modern tourist guides have helped raised tourist expectations. And they have provided the nativesfrom Kaiser Wilhelm down to the villagers of Chichacestenangowith a detailed and itemized list of what is expected of them and when. These are the up-to- date scripts for actors on the tourists stage.”
—Daniel J. Boorstin (b. 1914)
“All is possible,
Who so list believe;
Trust therefore first, and after preve,
As men wed ladies by license and leave,
All is possible.”
—Sir Thomas Wyatt (1503?1542)
“Beauty, like all other qualities presented to human experience, is relative; and the definition of it becomes unmeaning and useless in proportion to its abstractness. To define beauty not in the most abstract, but in the most concrete terms possible, not to find a universal formula for it, but the formula which expresses most adequately this or that special manifestation of it, is the aim of the true student of aesthetics.”
—Walter Pater (18391894)
