List of Eponymous Laws

This list of eponymous laws provides links to articles on laws, adages, and other succinct observations or predictions named after a person. (It does not refer to eponymous statutes such as Laura's Law.) In some cases the person named has coined the law – such as Parkinson's law. In others, the work or publications of the individual have led to the law being so named – as is the case with Moore's law. There are also laws ascribed to individuals by others, such as Murphy's law; or given eponymous names despite the absence of the named person.

Famous quotes containing the words list of, list and/or laws:

A man’s interest in a single bluebird is worth more than a complete but dry list of the fauna and flora of a town.
    Henry David Thoreau (1817–1862)

I made a list of things I have
    to remember and a list
of things I want to forget,
but I see they are the same list.
    Linda Pastan (b. 1932)

If woman alone had suffered under these mistaken traditions [of women’s subordination], if she could have borne the evil by herself, it would have been less pitiful, but her brother man, in the laws he created and ignorantly worshipped, has suffered with her. He has lost her highest help; he has crippled the intelligence he needed; he has belittled the very source of his own being and dwarfed the image of his Maker.
    Clara Barton (1821–1912)
