List Of Church Of Scotland Parishes
The Church of Scotland, the national church of Scotland, divides the country into presbyteries, which are subdivided into parishes, each served by a parish church, usually with its own minister. Unions and readjustments may however result in a parish having more than one building, or several parishes sharing a minister. There are currently 43 presbyteries in Scotland, and around 1500 parishes. In addition, the Church of Scotland has three presbyteries outwith Scotland: the Presbytery of England, the Presbytery of Europe and the Presbytery of Jerusalem. These presbyteries have "gathered congregations" rather than parishes.
What follows is a list those Church of Scotland parishes, congregations and places of worship. Use Category:Church of Scotland for an alphabetical index of parishes with Wikipedia articles. A complete list of parishes with statistical data will be found in the Church of Scotland Yearbook (known as the Red Book). See also List of Church of Scotland synods and presbyteries.

“Every morning I woke in dread, waiting for the day nurse to go on her rounds and announce from the list of names in her hand whether or not I was for shock treatment, the new and fashionable means of quieting people and of making them realize that orders are to be obeyed and floors are to be polished without anyone protesting and faces are to be made to be fixed into smiles and weeping is a crime.”
—Janet Frame (b. 1924)
“She say, Celie, tell the truth, have you ever found God in church? I never did. I just found a bunch of folks hoping for him to show. Any God I ever felt in church I brought in with me. And I think all the other folks did too. They come to church to share God, not find God.”
—Alice Walker (b. 1944)
“A custom loathsome to the eye, hateful to the nose, harmful to the brain, dangerous to the lungs, and in the black, stinking fume thereof nearest resembling the horrible Stygian smoke of the pit that is bottomless.”
