Playable Characters
The game contains 45 total playable characters, although it is not possible for the player to recruit all characters over the course of one single game. Some characters join automatically, while others only join based on the actions of the player. Several times in the game, there are multiple paths to take in the game, revolving around different characters. Only one path may be taken, meaning only characters from that path can be recruited, as characters from alternate paths are never met in order to be recruited. However, the game employs a New Game + system, where, upon starting a second game, characters who had been recruited on the prior play through will become available over certain parts of the game. As such the player can retain character from the first game, while taking alternate paths to recruit characters missed the first time.
