List Of AFL Debuts In 2008

The Australian Football League (AFL) is the highest level of professional Australian rules football competition in Australia. Founded in 1897 as the Victorian Football League (VFL), it originally consisted of eight teams based in the Australian state of Victoria before becoming established as a national competition and changing its name to the Australian Football League in 1990. The 2008 AFL regular season commenced on 20 March and concluded with the AFL Grand Final on 27 September where the premiership was won by Hawthorn. The season celebrated the 150th anniversary of the establishment of Australian football as a sport in 1858.

A total of 84 players made their debut in a senior AFL match during the 2008 AFL season. A senior AFL match is an Australian rules football match between two clubs that are members of the AFL. It is played under the laws of Australian football and includes both regular season and finals series matches. It does not include pre-season competition matches, interstate matches or international rules football matches.

In addition to those players making their AFL debuts, 25 players made their debuts with a club following a change of clubs where they had previously played a senior AFL match. Of those making their AFL debut, 17 were players who were elevated from their clubs' rookie list to the senior list, and therefore were eligible to represent the club in a senior AFL match.

Famous quotes containing the words list of and/or list:

Every morning I woke in dread, waiting for the day nurse to go on her rounds and announce from the list of names in her hand whether or not I was for shock treatment, the new and fashionable means of quieting people and of making them realize that orders are to be obeyed and floors are to be polished without anyone protesting and faces are to be made to be fixed into smiles and weeping is a crime.
    Janet Frame (b. 1924)

Modern tourist guides have helped raised tourist expectations. And they have provided the natives—from Kaiser Wilhelm down to the villagers of Chichacestenango—with a detailed and itemized list of what is expected of them and when. These are the up-to- date scripts for actors on the tourists’ stage.
