The magazine halted publication during the 2001 economic downturn. The following year, editor Alexander Star collected and published an anthology: Quick Studies: The Best of Lingua Franca. Famous quotes containing the words final and/or issue:
“Only an attitude remains:
Time has transfigured them into
Untruth. The stone fidelity
They hardly meant has come to be
Their final blazon, and to prove
Our almost-instinct almost true:
What will survive of us is love.”
—Philip Larkin (19221986)
“Most people see no reason to stop arguing just because an issue has been decided.”
—Mason Cooley (b. 1927)
