Line of Succession To The Former Nepalese Throne

Line Of Succession To The Former Nepalese Throne

The line of succession to the Nepalese throne was determined by absolute primogeniture. This meant that the eldest child of the monarch, regardless of gender inherited the throne. In 2006 the Nepalese government proposed adopting absolute primogeniture. The House of Representatives subsequently approved the bill. As per the amended law, a Special Committee under the Prime Minister was to take decisions to the accession to the throne, which had to be passed by the parliament.

The line of succession immediately before the abolition of the monarchy was as follows:

  • King Gyanendra of Nepal
  1. Paras, Crown Prince of Nepal (born 1971)
  2. Prince Hridayendra of Nepal (born 2002)
  3. Princess Purnika of Nepal (born 2000)
  4. Princess Kritika of Nepal (born 2003)
  5. Princess Prerana of Nepal (born 1978)

Famous quotes containing the words line of, line, succession and/or throne:

The individual woman is required ... a thousand times a day to choose either to accept her appointed role and thereby rescue her good disposition out of the wreckage of her self-respect, or else follow an independent line of behavior and rescue her self-respect out of the wreckage of her good disposition.
    Jeannette Rankin (1880–1973)

The line that I am urging as today’s conventional wisdom is not a denial of consciousness. It is often called, with more reason, a repudiation of mind. It is indeed a repudiation of mind as a second substance, over and above body. It can be described less harshly as an identification of mind with some of the faculties, states, and activities of the body. Mental states and events are a special subclass of the states and events of the human or animal body.
Willard Van Orman Quine (b. 1908)

Life is measured by the rapidity of change, the succession of influences that modify the being.
George Eliot [Mary Ann (or Marian)

Do not swear at all, either by heaven, for it is the throne of God, or by the earth, for it is his footstool, or by Jerusalem, for it is the city of the great King.
    Bible: New Testament, Matthew 5:34,35.
