Famous quotes containing the words democratic and/or party:
“We have been educated to such a fineor dullpoint that we are incapable of enjoying something new, something different, until we are first told what its all about. We dont trust our five senses; we rely on our critics and educators, all of whom are failures in the realm of creation. In short, the blind lead the blind. Its the democratic way.”
—Henry Miller (18911980)
“In making the great experiment of governing people by consent rather than by coercion, it is not sufficient that the party in power should have a majority. It is just as necessary that the party in power should never outrage the minority.”
—Walter Lippmann (18891974)
