Early Years Through College

Holt graduated from Cordova High School, Rancho Cordova, California, in 1977, and holds a degree in government from California State University in Sacramento. In 2012 Holt told American Profile newsmagazine "My first on-air job was actually as a disc jockey at a Country and Western station. Famous quotes containing the words early years, early, years and/or college:

I believe that if we are to survive as a planet, we must teach this next generation to handle their own conflicts assertively and nonviolently. If in their early years our children learn to listen to all sides of the story, use their heads and then their mouths, and come up with a plan and share, then, when they become our leaders, and some of them will, they will have the tools to handle global problems and conflict.
    Barbara Coloroso (20th century)

Names on a list, whose faces I do not recall
But they are gone to early death, who late in school
Distinguished the belt feed lever from the belt holding pawl.
    Richard Eberhart (b. 1904)

Time isn’t so important.... We can say that time is behind us, that we’ve had years together.... I can tell you about a thousand wonderful hours we’ve spent together because I feel we would have, inevitably. And there’s not that much difference between the future and the past.
    Kurt Neumann (1906–1958)

I am the only colored student in my class.
    Langston Hughes (1902–1967)
