Famous quotes containing the word life:

I set forth a humble and inglorious life; that does not matter. You can tie up all moral philosophy with a common and private life just as well as with a life of richer stuff. Each man bears the entire form of man’s estate.
    Michel de Montaigne (1533–1592)

Hard if, though cast away for life with Yankees,
A Frenchman couldn’t get his human rating!
    Robert Frost (1874–1963)

The cinema is not an art which films life: the cinema is something between art and life. Unlike painting and literature, the cinema both gives to life and takes from it, and I try to render this concept in my films. Literature and painting both exist as art from the very start; the cinema doesn’t.
    Jean-Luc Godard (b. 1930)
