Len Tillem

Len Tillem (short for Leonard M. Tillem) is an attorney in Sonoma, California and a radio broadcaster on KKSF NewsTalk 910 AM San Francisco. He is notable for being the "Radio Lawyer of the Air." On his radio program, Tillem answers general legal questions submitted by the listening audience.

Tillem began his radio career in 1990 on KVON in Napa, California, and was later on KSRO in Santa Rosa, California.

On Sunday, January 2, 2000, he began his regular program on KGO with a three-hour Sunday afternoon broadcast starting at 4 p.m., replacing a "best of" broadcast of Dr. Laura Schlessinger's program on the KGO lineup. In June 2000, Tillem's program was expanded to Saturdays and Sundays, 4-7 p.m., after Dr. Schlessinger's syndicated program was moved to KGO's sister station KSFO AM 560.

Starting on November 27, 2006, KGO expanded The Len Tillem Program to a weekday program from 12 p.m. to 12:45 p.m. The Saturday program was dropped, but the Sunday 4-7 p.m. program was retained. The weekday program's unusual 45 minute format was due to KGO carrying Paul Harvey's nationally syndicated 15 minute broadcast at 12:45 p.m. In January 2009, Paul Harvey's 15 minute segment was moved to KGO's sister station KKSF to free a full hour for the Len Tillem Program starting at 1 p.m. In November, 2011 Tillem announced his Sunday show would no longer consist of live calls, except for one Sunday program each month, but would rather consist of pre-recorded segments of his weekday program.

On December 1, 2011, KGO changed to an all-news format and terminated the employment of all of its weekday radio program hosts except for Ronn Owens. Tillem resumed his radio program on the Bay Area radio station KKSF 910 AM on January 3, 2012 from 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Len Tillem also co-writes, with attorney Rosamonde McNichol, a newspaper advice column on elder law, estate planning and trust and estate administration issues. The column is syndicated locally within the northern half of the San Francisco Bay Area and appears monthly in the San Francisco Chronicle, and weekly in the Napa Valley Register, the Sonoma Sun, the Vacaville Reporter, the Kenwood Press, the Clearlake Observer, and the Lake County Record Bee.

Tillem earned his Juris Doctor (J.D.) from the New York University School of Law and was admitted to the State Bar of California on January 18, 1972.

Tillem's niece Joya Tillem is the wife of actor/director/producer Jon Favreau.
