Modeling/Acting Career
According to her book, Successfully You, while working at Bloomingdale's department store, she was discovered by a talent scout who offered her the opportunity to audition for the role of the new Slim-Fast girl, which she landed, and which launched her also into a modeling and acting career. A member of the Screen Actors Guild (S.A.G.), Valentine starred in national commercials and made numerous television appearances. Valentine became Miss Missouri USA in 1977. Shortly after winning the title, she was involved in a horrific car crash which involved a lengthy recuperation period; the doctors were not certain if she would even walk again. Valentine fully recovered.
