Intensity Control
To increase efficiency (or to allow digital intensity control without a more complex digital-to-analog converter), the power may be applied periodically or intermittently; so long as the flicker rate is greater than the human flicker fusion threshold, and the LED is stationary relative to the eye, the LED will appear to be continuously lit.

Famous quotes containing the words intensity and/or control:
“Consider the difference between looking and staring. A look is voluntary; it is also mobile, rising and falling in intensity as its foci of interest are taken up and then exhausted. A stare has, essentially, the character of a compulsion; it is steady, unmodulated, fixed.”
—Susan Sontag (b. 1933)
“The basic tool for the manipulation of reality is the manipulation of words. If you can control the meaning of words, you can control the people who must use the words.”
—Philip K. Dick (19281982)
