Leave (U.S. Military) - Terminal Leave

Terminal Leave

Prior to separation or retirement from the military, a member may take the remainder of the leave they have. For instance, if a member's separation or retirement date is June 30, and the member has 30 days of leave accrued, the member may go on "terminal leave" beginning June 1. All their outprocessing from the service would need to be accomplished prior to June 1. Once they entered "terminal leave" they would essentially be out of the military, but would still collect a paycheck and other entitlements, such as basic allowance for housing, basic allowance for subsistence and medical coverage until their official separation or retirement date on June 30.

Famous quotes containing the words terminal and/or leave:

All sin tends to be addictive, and the terminal point of addiction is what is called damnation.
    —W.H. (Wystan Hugh)

    Grusinskaya: You must go now.
The Baron: I’m not going. You know I’m not going. Oh, please let me stay.
Grusinskaya: But I want to be alone.
The Baron: That isn’t true. You don’t want to be alone. You were in despair just now. I can’t leave you now. You mustn’t cry anymore. You must forget. Let me stay for just a little while. Ahh, please let me stay.
Grusinskaya: For just a minute then.
    William A. Drake (1900–1965)
