Principles
LDL apheresis works by leading venous blood through a column coated with antibodies to apolipoprotein B (the main protein of LDL particles), dextran sulfate or polyacrylate, or by precipitating LDL with heparin at low pH. In all cases (apart from polyacrylate absorption), plasma is separated from cells by a cell separator.

Famous quotes containing the word principles:
“When great changes occur in history, when great principles are involved, as a rule the majority are wrong.”
—Eugene V. Debs (18551926)
“In child rearing it would unquestionably be easier if a child were to do something because we say so. The authoritarian method does expedite things, but it does not produce independent functioning. If a child has not mastered the underlying principles of human interactions and merely conforms out of coercion or conditioning, he has no tools to use, no resources to apply in the next situation that confronts him.”
—Elaine Heffner (20th century)
“His principles are like the bristles of a domesticated pig, they dont pierce through the pork.”
—Franz Grillparzer (17911872)
