(March 5, 2007) - LassoSoft, LLC announced their acquisition of OmniPilot Software and the Lasso product family during the keynote of the Lasso Developer Conference (formerly known as the Lasso Summit) in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. The conference is an annual gathering of Lasso users which includes presentations from LassoSoft employees and some of the most experienced Lasso users from around the world, as well as training sessions for new Lasso users.
LassoSoft, LLC was previously a partnership of Kyle Jessup, Fletcher Sandbeck, and Kerry Adams. Kyle Jessup has served as the director of Lasso development since version 1.5. Fletcher Sandbeck was the primary developer behind the Lasso Studio product line and the primary author of Lasso's print and online documentation. Kerry Adams was previously the director of sales at OmniPilot Software. Collectively, the three partners have over 20 years experience working on the Lasso product line.
(December 3, 2010) – LassoSoft Inc., a newly formed company, acquired the intellectual property and key staff of LassoSoft, LLC when the latter company was dissolved. The new ownership is based in Newmarket, Ontario, Canada, north of Toronto. The new CEO, Sean Stephens, also owns and operates web design agency Treefrog Interactive Inc., a long-standing member of the Lasso Community.
Kyle Jessup remains in his role as lead architect and engineer of Lasso development. Jonathan Guthrie, a web developer since 1994, with a focus on Lasso development since 1999, is the lead for research and development, and Paul Higgins is the company’s technical support specialist, having worked with Lasso since 2006. Rachel Guthrie is the operations manager and head of customer service with experience in information systems since 1995.
The new company’s first initiatives included updating Lasso Professional 8.5 with the release of Lasso 8.6. This release was intended to bridge the move to Lasso Server 9, a more significant rewrite of the Lasso middleware methods that was released on February 11, 2010. They have implemented new licensing and support structures, including offering paying subscribers the opportunity to vote on development priorities.
