Landry's Restaurants - History

History

The company started in 1980 with the original Landry's Seafood House Restaurant located in Katy, Texas. A year later, they opened Willie G's Seafood and Steak House in Uptown Houston. In 1986, Tilman J. Fertitta obtained controlling interest in the two restaurants and would later become the CEO of the company, which went public in August 1993.

Under Fertitta, the company grew rapidly through acquisition and expansion of Landry's and other restaurant concepts.

In 1998, the company completed development of the 35-acre (14 ha) Kemah Boardwalk, which includes restaurants, a hotel, amusement rides, and a marina.

Famous quotes containing the word history:

The history of the world is the record of the weakness, frailty and death of public opinion.
    Samuel Butler (1835–1902)

We aspire to be something more than stupid and timid chattels, pretending to read history and our Bibles, but desecrating every house and every day we breathe in.
    Henry David Thoreau (1817–1862)

In history the great moment is, when the savage is just ceasing to be a savage, with all his hairy Pelasgic strength directed on his opening sense of beauty;—and you have Pericles and Phidias,—and not yet passed over into the Corinthian civility. Everything good in nature and in the world is in that moment of transition, when the swarthy juices still flow plentifully from nature, but their astrigency or acridity is got out by ethics and humanity.
    Ralph Waldo Emerson (1803–1882)
