Landesbank Berlin Holding (formerly Bankgesellschaft Berlin) (FWB: BEB2) is a large commercial bank based in Berlin and holding company of the following banks: Berliner Sparkasse and Landesbank Berlin.
In 2007 LBB was taken over by the German Federation of Savings Banks (DSGV). The Land Berlin was forced to sell its stake by the European Commission as a condition of permitting the bailout of the then Bankgesellschaft Berlin, which had got into difficulties due to a real-estate scandal.
In 2010 Landesbank reported pre-tax profits of €317m.
Famous quotes containing the words berlin and/or holding:
“Wont you play a simple melody
Like my mother sang to me
One with good old fashioned harmony.
Play a simple melody.”
—Irving Berlin (18881989)
“The slogan offers a counterweight to the general dispersion of thought by holding it fast to a single, utterly succinct and unforgettable expression, one which usually inspires men to immediate action. It abolishes reflection: the slogan does not argue, it asserts and commands.”
—Johan Huizinga (18721945)
