Lakeland Square Mall

The Lakeland Square Mall is a shopping mall located on the northern side of Lakeland, Florida in the United States and one of two enclosed malls serving Polk County. It is owned and managed by Rouse Properties, one of the largest mall owners in the United States. It is the only shopping mall located off of I-4 between Tampa and Orlando, and it serves the populations of western Polk County.

The shopping mall has six anchor stores, including the Burlington Coat Factory, two Dillard's locations, J.C. Penney, Macy's and Sears. When it opened, however, it featured Mervyn's, and Sears, but also had Belk Lindsey, with Maison Blanche opening a few months later.

The Lakeland Square Mall has been the main upscale shopping center for Lakeland during the 1990s, but since 2005 it has lost Belk to the competing Lakeside Village, an open-air lifestyle center that opened on the south side of the city.

Famous quotes containing the words square and/or mall:

    Rationalists, wearing square hats,
    Think, in square rooms,
    Looking at the floor,
    Looking at the ceiling.
    They confine themselves
    To right-angled triangles.
    Wallace Stevens (1879–1955)

A father ... knows exactly what those boys at the mall have in their depraved little minds because he once owned such a depraved little mind himself. In fact, if he thinks enough about the plans that he used to have for young girls, the father not only will support his wife in keeping their daughter home but he might even run over to the mall and have a few of those boys arrested.
    Bill Cosby (20th century)
