LUMS has always been a research active university band the focus on research has strengthened as it has expanded. The Suleman Dawood School of Business (SDSB) has produced more than 600 case studies and has regularly published one of Asia's leading case research journals. Case studies written at LUMS are now used in universities across the world, including MBA programs in other Pakistani universities. In 2011, a case study written by LUMS Professors Shazib Shaikh and Zahoor Hassan won the coveted Ruth Greene Memorial Award of the North American Case Research Association (NACRA)for the best case written outside North America. The faculty at the LUMS School of Humanities, Social Sciences and Law (SHSSL) has been highly productive and produced more than 50 books in the last few years. The LUMS School of Science and Engineering (SSE) has been ramping up its international research profile by publishing in the leading international journals in Chemistry, Biology, Mathematics, Physics, Computer Science and Electrical Engineering. In 2011 Professor Basit Yameen of the LUMS School of Science and Engineering won the prestigious Alexander von Humboldt Fellowship for his work on molecular biology. LUMS also invests in research and provides significant research grants to its faculty for their research.
