In UIL Competitions—The 2010 Johnson Marching Band placed 3rd in UIL Area D, and advanced to the UIL Texas State Marching Band Contest where they finished 13th overall as a three year old school. The 2012 Johnson Marching Band placed 2nd in UIL Area D, and advanced to the UIL Texas State Marching Band Contest, where they were named a State Finalist for the first time, finishing 10th overall.

At the Bands of America San Antonio Super Regional, the Johnson Band advanced to finals for the first time in 2010, placing 10th overall. In 2011, the band placed 5th overall, and in 2012 placed 4th overall.

The 2011 Johnson Band traveled to Indianapolis to compete at the Bands of America Grand National Championships for their first time, where they were named a Finalist, finishing 8th overall.

The 2013-14 Johnson Band received an invitation to perform at the 125th Tournament of Roses Parade in Pasadena, California on January 1, 2014.

The 2011-12 Johnson Wind Ensemble finished first in the Texas Music Educators Association (TMEA) Area E Honor Band Contest, and advanced to state, where they finished 5th in the TMEA Honor Band Finals.

The CT Johnson Winterguard traveled to WGI World Championships in Dayton, Ohio in 2011 and 2012, where they advanced to finals and finished 9th in the world in the Scholastic Open class both times. The Winterguard has been named a TCGC Silver and Bronze Medalist at State Championships through the last few years.
