  • Many ladder matches, while not officially recognized by the WWE have taken place at house shows. One featured Razor Ramon retaining the Intercontinental Championship against Shawn Michaels months before their epic WrestleMania encounter. Another featured Razor Ramon winning the same title from Jeff Jarrett in Montreal in 1995 only to lose it back to Jarrett two nights later. Another featured Shawn Michaels retain his WWF Championship from Goldust in 1996. Three ladder matches took places at consecutive house shows in 2006 where each saw Jeff Hardy defend his Intercontinental Championship. The first of these three saw Shelton Benjamin, Johnny Nitro and Carlito as contenders. The next two nights did not feature Benjamin as he was too injured to participate.
  • Similar to a Stairway to Hell match, during Triple H and Kevin Nash's ladder match, a sledgehammer was hung above the ring. The first participant to retrieve it could use it as a weapon. The only way to have won was by pinfall or submission.

Famous quotes containing the words ladder, matches, world, wrestling and/or federation:

As long as she is young and personable, every woman may cherish the dream that she may leap up the social ladder and dim the sheen of luxury by sheer natural loveliness; the few examples of such a feat are kept before the eye of the public.
    Germaine Greer (b. 1939)

But, most of all, the Great Society is not a safe harbor, a resting place, a final objective, a finished work. It is a challenge constantly renewed, beckoning us toward a destiny where the meaning of our lives matches the marvelous products of our labor.
    Lyndon Baines Johnson (1908–1973)

Germany has reduced savagery to a science, and this great war for the victorious peace of justice must go on until the German cancer is cut clean out of the world body.
    Theodore Roosevelt (1858–1919)

We laugh at him who steps out of his room at the very moment when the sun steps out, and says: “I will the sun to rise”; and at him who cannot stop the wheel, and says: “I will it to roll”; and at him who is taken down in a wrestling match, and says: “I lie here, but I will that I lie here!” And yet, all laughter aside, do we ever do anything other than one of these three things when we use the expression, “I will”?
    Friedrich Nietzsche (1844–1900)

Women realize that we are living in an ungoverned world. At heart we are all pacifists. We should love to talk it over with the war-makers, but they would not understand. Words are so inadequate, and we realize that the hatred must kill itself; so we give our men gladly, unselfishly, proudly, patriotically, since the world chooses to settle its disputes in the old barbarous way.
