Pavone grew up in Youngstown, Ohio. He was influenced by Bret Hart and Shawn Michaels. Pavone attended Youngstown State University graduating with a Bachelor in Arts. Since leaving the WWE Pavone has retired from wrestling and become an elementary school art teacher in Tampa Bay, Florida
