Famous quotes containing the words point, state and/or park:
“No one can doubt the purpose for which the Nation now seeks to use the Democratic Party. It seeks to use it to interpret a change in its own plans and point of view.”
—Woodrow Wilson (18561924)
“Oh, the holiness of always being the injured party. The historically oppressed can find not only sanctity but safety in the state of victimization. When access to a better life has been denied often enough, and successfully enough, one can use the rejection as an excuse to cease all efforts. After all, one reckons, they dont want me, they accept their own mediocrity and refuse my best, they dont deserve me.”
—Maya Angelou (b. 1928)
“Mrs. Mirvan says we are not to walk in [St. Jamess] Park again next Sunday ... because there is better company in Kensington Gardens; but really, if you had seen how every body was dressed, you would not think that possible.”
—Frances Burney (17521840)
