Kowloon (MTR) - History

History

In construction stages of this station, the station was named West Kowloon Station (Chinese: 西九龍站).

As this station was proposed as the terminus of the unbuilt East Kowloon Line, there is a reserved confined space under the Tung Chung Line platform. This space is not used because the alignment was changed and the Kowloon Point (to the south-east of the station) Reclamation Scheme was shelved.

Apart from this station, people can also walk to Austin Station to take the West Rail Line trains. In the future, when the Guangzhou-Shenzhen-Hong Kong Express Rail Link completes, passengers will be able to walk to the West Kowloon Terminus, the terminus of the rail link, to take the rail link.

Famous quotes containing the word history:

The history of this country was made largely by people who wanted to be left alone. Those who could not thrive when left to themselves never felt at ease in America.
    Eric Hoffer (1902–1983)

History ... is, indeed, little more than the register of the crimes, follies, and misfortunes of mankind.
But what experience and history teach is this—that peoples and governments have never learned anything from history, or acted on principles deduced from it.
    Georg Wilhelm Friedrich Hegel (1770–1831)

The history is always the same the product is always different and the history interests more than the product. More, that is, more. Yes. But if the product was not different the history which is the same would not be more interesting.
    Gertrude Stein (1874–1946)
