Kota or Koota Brahmins do not believe in any sort of human guru or religious heads. Instead, they consider the Lord Narasimha, one among the ten incarnations of the Lord Vishnu, to be their Guru . Hence, the deity in Saligrama temple is referred to as Guru Narasimha. Guru Narasimha and Hanuman temples in Saligrama have records dating back to over a thousand years and nearly 4 centuries before the time of Jagadguru Sri Shankaracharya. It is derieved from the Padma Purana that Narada Maharshi originally placed the idol of Guru Narasimha in its current place. The annual car festivalwill be held on 16 and17 of every January is attended by thousands of people.
