College Career
Sheets attended Purdue University, where he played for head coach, Joe Tiller. He majored in Organizational Leadership and Supervision.
Despite limited playing time, Sheets finished fifth in the Big Ten with 5.5 yards per carry (players with over 100 rushes) and ended up with 104 carries for 571 yards. With an average of a touchdown per 10.4 rushes, he tied with Minnesota running back Laurence Maroney for the lead in this category. Sheets also added 13 receptions for 132 yards and played on special teams as well.
In week two of the 2006 season, Sheets scored four rushing touchdowns against Miami (OH), including the game-winning touchdown in overtime. This gave him seven touchdowns for the season to that point. On November 20, 2006 Sheets recorded the first blocked punt of his career, and the third on the season for the Boilermakers.

Famous quotes containing the words college career, college and/or career:
“In looking back over the college careers of those who for various reasons have been prominent in undergraduate life ... one cannot help noticing that these men have nearly always shown from the start an interest in the lives of their fellow students. A large acquaintance means that many persons are dependent on a man and conversely that he himself is dependent on many. Success necessarily means larger responsibilities, and responsibilities mean many friends.”
—Franklin D. Roosevelt (18821945)
“No girl who is going to marry need bother to win a college degree; she just naturally becomes a Master of Arts and a Doctor of Philosophy after catering to an ordinary man for a few years.”
—Helen Rowland (18751950)
“The 19-year-old Diana ... decided to make her career that of wife. Today that can be a very, very iffy line of work.... And what sometimes happens to the women who pursue it is the best argument imaginable for teaching girls that they should always be able to take care of themselves.”
—Anna Quindlen (b. 1952)
