Korean Central Television - Broadcasting

Broadcasting

The station's broadcasting is done via a network of mediumwave and shortwave transmitters across the country. These powerful transmissions can easily be heard in neighboring countries, including South Korea where several of these frequencies are jammed. As a result of the work of construction of television relay towers all over the country, the television cover of the whole country was accomplished in the early 1970s. The station began its first colour telecasts in 1977. Color television follows the PAL system with 576i scanning lines. In 1980 North Korea started relay reception by a communication satellite television.

Famous quotes containing the word broadcasting:

We spend all day broadcasting on the radio and TV telling people back home what’s happening here. And we learn what’s happening here by spending all day monitoring the radio and TV broadcasts from back home.
