Kondaveeti Balija are a sect in the Kapu community in Rayalaseema in the Indian state of Andra Pradesh. Emperor Sri Krishna Devaraya belonged to this community.
Kapu in Rayalaseema are Reddys. Reddy is not a caste and is instead a position given by Sri Krishnadeavaraya King to collect tax. Kapu of Costral Andhra are called Balija in Rayalaseema.
People from many communities become Reddys. Those who received the appointment in recent decades know their castes, unlike those of earlier eras. Historians defined the Reddy as a subcaste of Kapu in Andhra Pradesh. Reddies and Balijas are not separate castes.
