Kohl Center - Home Court Advantage

Home Court Advantage

The arena has become exceptionally difficult for opposing teams to play in, especially in men's basketball, helped in part by the student section known as the Grateful Red. At the end of the 2008–2009 season, the men's basketball team had achieved a record of 153–16 at the Kohl Center, with only six losses between 2001 and 2007. The arena garnered attention when the men's basketball team compiled a 38-game home winning streak, which came to end during the 2004–2005 season at the hands of the No. 1 ranked University of Illinois. At the end of the 2010-2011 season, the men's basketball team has achieved a record of 155-12 at the Kohl Center under Coach Bo Ryan.

The Kohl Center boasts the nation's highest attendance in men's and women's college hockey.

Famous quotes containing the words home, court and/or advantage:

As I came home through the woods with my string of fish, trailing my pole, it being now quite dark, I caught a glimpse of a woodchuck stealing across my path, and felt a strange thrill of savage delight, and was strongly tempted to seize and devour him raw; not that I was hungry then, except for that wildness which he represented.
    Henry David Thoreau (1817–1862)

As to “Don Juan,” confess ... that it is the sublime of that there sort of writing; it may be bawdy, but is it not good English? It may be profligate, but is it not life, is it not the thing? Could any man have written it who has not lived in the world? and tooled in a post-chaise? in a hackney coach? in a Gondola? against a wall? in a court carriage? in a vis a vis? on a table? and under it?
    George Gordon Noel Byron (1788–1824)

In matter of commerce the fault of the Dutch
Is offering too little and asking too much.
The French are with equal advantage content,
So we clap on Dutch bottoms just twenty per cent.
    George Canning (1770–1827)
