Overview

Started in 1833 by Americans and Scottish Presbyterians. In 1837, Americans departed with 1837 Rebellion; Church of Scotland took over until 1844. In 1844, went to Free Church of Scotland. James Nisbet became first setted minister since 1842; he remained until 1862, when he was appointed a missionary, first to Red River Colony, and later to Prince Albert, Saskatchewan. Linked from 1844 to 1883 with Knox Church "Sixteen", whose building was upstream at Dundas Street. Voted to remain Presbyterian in 1925.
