Digital Television
Channel | Video | Aspect | Programming |
---|---|---|---|
9.1 | 720p | 16:9 | Main KMSP-TV programming / FOX |
29.2 | 480i | 4:3 | SD Simulcast of co-owned WFTC-TV |
KMSP-DT was originally on 26, but through the use of PSIP, digital television receivers displayed its virtual channel as 9. As part of the digital television transition in the United States, KMSP-TV shut down its analog transmitter on June 12, 2009 and moved its digital broadcasts back to channel 9.
In November 2009, a standard definition simulcast of WFTC was placed on KMSP's second subchannel and given a virtual channel number of 29.2. In turn, a standard definition simulcast of KMSP was placed on WFTC's second subchannel and given a virtual channel number of 9.2. This ensures reception of both stations even in cases where the ATSC channel on which KMSP or WFTC operates is not actually receivable.
