Klein Oak High School has been named a GRAMMY Signature school twice: once in the 2001-2002 school year, and most recently for the 2006-2007 school year. Its music department has been recognized over the past decades for outstanding performances in numerous competitions.

Klein Oak is home to the Strutters, a nationally-recognized dance/drill team composed of talented female dancers. Also A Hip-hop breakdanceing Crew named OBK which are abbreveations for Oak Break Krew that was founded in 2008. They participate in many things such as the big Spring show and a Rocket's halftime and pre show.

Klein Oak is an active yearly participant in the Texas French Symposium, a state-wide academic and non-academic competition that focuses on many aspects of French/francophone language and culture. For the past three consecutive Symposiums, the first-place sweepstakes winners—some of whom were awarded a trip to France—have both been from Klein Oak (in addition to many other top-10 placers and numerous other awards in the individual academic events). In 2009, the school became the second-place sweepstakes winner, and in the 2010 and 2011 Symposiums the school won the first-place school sweepstakes award in the large school division.

Additionally, the Klein Oak theatre department is active and under the leadership of distinguished directors and instructors. Theater students participate in One-Act UIL every year. The crew took home an award for Best Crew in 2009, and some of the Klein Oak actors took home All-Star Cast awards. The Klein Oak Theatre students did very well in the 2011 OAP,with their show Joined at the Head, advancing all the way to Area, Level Three of the One Act Competition.
