Kiss Kiss Bang Bang is a 2005 crime/comedy film written and directed by Shane Black, and starring Robert Downey, Jr. and Val Kilmer, with Michelle Monaghan and Corbin Bernsen in supporting roles. The script is partially based on the Brett Halliday novel Bodies Are Where You Find Them, and engages the classic hardboiled literary genre in a tongue-in-cheek fashion. The film was produced and co-produced by Joel Silver and Susan Downey (credited as Susan Levin), respectively. It was the first film produced by Bernsen's production company Public Media Works.
Filmed in Los Angeles between February 24 and May 3, 2004, the movie debuted at the 2005 Cannes Film Festivalon May 14, and received a limited release in cinemas in October and November 2005.
