King's Quest: Quest for the Crown (aka King's Quest) is a 1983 adventure game, originally published for the IBM PCjr simply as King's Quest. The story and the general design of the game was developed by Roberta Williams.
The game was originally released simply as King's Quest; the subtitle "Quest for the Crown" was added to the game box in the 5th rerelease (1987), but did not appear in the game itself. The 1990 remake was renamed King's Quest 1: Quest for the Crown (King's Quest I on the box).

Famous quotes containing the words king, quest and/or crown:
“Like to the tree of Tantalus she fled,
And seeming lavish, savde her maydenhead.
Nere king more sought to keepe his diademe;
Than Hero this inestimable gemme.”
—Christopher Marlowe (15641593)
“The tranquility and peace that a scholar needs is something as sweet and exhilarating as love. Unspeakable joys are showered on us by the exertion of our mental faculties; the quest of ideas, and the tranquil contemplation of knowledge; delights indescribable, because purely intellectual and impalpable to our senses.”
—HonorĂ© De Balzac (17991850)
“I often used to think myself in the case of the fox-hunter, who, when he had toiled and sweated all day in the chase as if some unheard-of blessing was to crown his success, finds at last all he has got by his labor is a stinking nauseous animal. But my condition was yet worse than his; for he leaves the loathsome wretch to be torn by his hounds, whilst I was obliged to fondle mine, and meanly pretend him to be the object of my love.”
—Sarah Fielding (17101768)
