Famous quotes containing the words kingfisher, country and/or park:
“the mud
Flies from his hunching wings and beakmy heart,
The blue kingfisher dives on you in fire.”
—Robert Lowell (19171977)
“The city sleeps and the country sleeps,
The living sleep for their time, the dead sleep for their time,
The old husband sleeps by his wife and the young husband sleeps by his wife;
And these tend inward to me, and I tend outward to them,
And such as it is to be of these more or less I am,
And of these one and all I weave the song of myself.”
—Walt Whitman (18191892)
“and the words never said,
And the ominous, ominous dancing ahead.
We sat in the car park till twenty to one
And now Im engaged to Miss Joan Hunter Dunn.”
—Sir John Betjeman (19061984)
