King Biscuit Flower Hour Presents: Deep Purple in Concert

King Biscuit Flower Hour Presents: Deep Purple in Concert is a live album taken from a Deep Purple performance originally broadcast on the King Biscuit Flower Hour, released in July 1995.

The album was released in the U.K. under the title On the Wings of a Russian Foxbat. The album was remastered and re-released (with new cover art) as Live at Long Beach 1976 on February 24, 2009.

The concert was recorded at the Long Beach Arena on 27 February 1976. The album contains four bonus tracks recorded at a Deep Purple concert in Springfield in January, 1976. This concert was originally intended to be used for the King Biscuit broadcast. Tape imperfections made the entire show unsuitable for airing and forced the second taping in Long Beach one month later.

Note the CD1 track listing quotes "The Grind" as being performed; this is incorrect as it is the Bolin solo song "Homeward Strut".

Famous quotes containing the words king, biscuit, flower, hour, deep, purple and/or concert:

“I see nobody on the road,” said Alice.
“I only wish I had such eyes,” the King remarked in a fretful tone. “To be able to see Nobody! And at that distance too! Why, it’s as much as I can do to see real people, by this light!”
Lewis Carroll [Charles Lutwidge Dodgson] (1832–1898)

“He is so polite!”MYes, he is always prepared with a biscuit for Cerberus and is so timid that he assumes everyone is Cerberus, even you and me—that is his “politeness.”
    Friedrich Nietzsche (1844–1900)

No flower blooms for a thousand days.
    Chinese proverb.

That hour in the life of a man when first the help of humanity fails him, and he learns that in his obscurity and indigence humanity holds him a dog and no man: that hour is a hard one, but not the hardest. There is still another hour which follows, when he learns that in his infinite comparative minuteness and abjectness, the gods do likewise despise him, and own him not of their clan.
    Herman Melville (1819–1891)

Study is like the heaven’s glorious sun,
    That will not be deep searched with saucy looks;
Small have continual plodders ever won,
Save base authority from others’ books.
    William Shakespeare (1564–1616)

    Ah splendour, my goddess turns:
or was it the sudden heat,
    beneath quivering of molten flesh,
    of veins, purple as violets?
    Hilda Doolittle (1886–1961)

... in the cities there are thousands of rolling stones like me. We are all alike; we have no ties, we know nobody, we own nothing. When one of us dies, they scarcely know where to bury him.... We have no house, no place, no people of our own. We live in the streets, in the parks, in the theatres. We sit in restaurants and concert halls and look about at the hundreds of our own kind and shudder.
    Willa Cather (1873–1947)
